Killorglin RFC kicked off their season at home in Ballymalis in the West Munster U18.5 cup vs Castleisland on Saturday. Killorglin took the lead through a penalty converted by Jack Evans but found themselves behind shortly after when a quick tap try put the visitors in front by 2 points.
Shortly afterwards Killorglin were back in front through a try by James Byrne under the posts and converted by Jack Evans. Killorglin had another penalty shortly afterwards which Evans converted again and Killorglin led at half time by 13 - 8 after a good half of rugby from both sides.
The second half remained scoreless for a long time despite Killorglin's best efforts. Jamie O'Leary thought he had gotten a try when Jack Evans chipped into the in goal area but the referee harshly ruled that he was ahead of the kicker. Castleisland though did get on the score sheet when they scored a try under the posts with 14 minutes to go. Luckily the kick was missed. Another couple of chances presented for both sides but the game finished a draw. Castleisland were the victors though as they scored the most tries at 2 - 1. A good start to the season from the home team who can only improve
