While the 2019/2020 came to an abrupt finish due to Covid-19 we felt it was only right to celebrate the successful season we had. A big thank you to all the players, parents, coaches, committee, and sponsors for their continued support, without you our club would not exist.
U8’s & U10’s
We were delighted to see so many new faces at the U8 and U10 age levels this year. Everyone’s hard work paid off as there was great development in passing and tackling. Unfortunately, the bad weather didn’t allow us to have as many outings as we would have liked but we hope to see everyone back for the 2020/2021 season.
U12’s
The U12 season was a victim of the weather on too many occasions this year so trips out for blitzes were very limited. As usual the players gave thier all and were never worried about the weather. We still had many players constantly improving and developing they're skills while making friends along the way which is most important in Killorglin Rugby Club.
While all the players gave their all the two lucky players chosen are Mikey Hynes as Most Improved Player and Pat Costello as Player Of The Year. Congratulations lads, we look forward to seeing you next season.
U14
The club and coaches would like to thank Jerry McCarthy for his role as joint captain this year. Jerry's role as a leader encouraged the team to put game plays into effect.
Our Player Of The Year is Conall Cournane. We had a lot of players that stepped up to the mark this year who have done the clubs proud. As he was our joint captain along with Jerry McCarthy, Conall's leadership and quick thinking helped the team to perform at its best. Conall's last minute drop goal in the game against Killarney and his try saving tackle against Corca Dhuibhne got us over the edge to win those games, along with many more. Congratulations Conall.
Our Most Improved Player is Roan O'Shea. A lot of our players improved this year, but Roan stood out as his ability to read opposition and control the pack improved. Also, on the humorous side he stopped his back chat to the ref which got us less penalties! Congratulations Roan.
All in all, we would like to congratulate the squad on winning 7 out of 13 games, they put in their best effort and all the training paid off. We would like to wish the boys moving up to under 16's the best of luck going forward. And I look forward to seeing all remaining and new players in the next season.
We would also like to thank coaches Tony Cournane and Ger Tangney for their help. Thank you to all who refereed our home games, to everyone who brought and helped with the food and beverages and to all the parents for their support and anyone else who contributed in any way.

U16
U16 Player of the Year: Aona O’Shea
Aona was a great captain this year, playing in the centre. In what was often a tough season he never gave up and his passion, example and work rate drove the others around him to be their best on and off the pitch. A motivator and delegator, tough as nails, with a good all-round skill set and reading of the game.
U16 Most Improved Player: Peadar Whelan
Consistency and reliability are traits that can be overlooked, but are rare and highly sought after in life and by any coach. Peadar showed great resilience and worked hard for the team defending in tight and carrying well to gain important yards. A powerful scrummager and solid line out thrower, Peadar was placed in key roles at hooker, tight head and pack leader this season and delivered in all of them, playing through injury when the team needed him, and for that is our most improved player.

U18.5
The U18.5 season was quite tough due to playing numbers as for the first time in 6 years Killorglin were out on their own under the under 18.5 banner with some valued help from Iveragh Eagles' Joe Coffey and Patrick O'Neill. While it was a small group of players they were full of quality and picking a player of the year was very tough.
Thank you to Cormac Doyle who captained the team to a Munster Bowl Semi Final which was narrowly lost.
Most Improved Player
Liam Nidegger gets the most improved award as he simply did just that. He improved with game and training and when he was instructed on what was needed he just got it done. Players that listen to what's being said and have the right attitude to carry it out are vital in any team and I'm sure Liam will keep developing into a fine rugby player ahead of year two at U18.5.
Player Of The Year
Adam Clarke gets player of the year and is well deserved. He played every minute of every game and lead the team in his performances. He has been a great leader all through the season and we wish him all the best as he moves up to senior level. Congratulations Adam
I would like to thank everybody for their help in getting rugby played all through the season, from pitch lining to drives to games, refereeing to physio and everything in between. Thank you to all the coaches for giving up their valuable spare time and I look forward to seeing you all next season. We are nearly out the other side of this crisis and hopefully we will have a good long season ahead of us.
