Killorglin travelled to play Abbeyfeale in first game in Kerry Cups competition. Abbeyfeale got the first score with an unconverted try which surprisingly was the only score of the first half in which Killorglin defended well while establishing scrum dominance.
The second half saw much more action on the scoreboard. Firstly, Killorglin levelled the game with an outstanding score that started with James Byrne fielding an Abbeyfeale clearance continued through several phases that featured almost every player before a skip pass to Eoghan Walsh saw him touch down in the corner to level the match. Shortly after Abbeyfeale retook the lead with a 7 pointer. Killorglin responded with great determination. From a lineout 15 metres out the pack mauled towards the line until Stephen Cotter broke and despite being tackled managed to offload to Roan O'Shea who passed to Conall Whelan who gave the scoring pass to Eoghan Walsh for his second try. Killorglin were unlucky to concede an intercept try 10 minutes later. To their credit they stormed back on the attack  and looked like had scored near the posts through Cormac Doyle but ref wasn't able to see the grounding. Following a subsequent 5 metre scrum Cian Corcoran drove over for third try. Unfortunately the conversion missed so the final score was 17-15 to Abbeyfeale.
